Komine-jo Castle
Komine-jo Castle was constructed in 1632 during the Edo period. Historical feudal lords stayed in this castle, but it was destroyed during the Boshin War in 1868. Around 120 years later, the castle was rebuilt using edo period blueprints and wood construction techniques. In spring, the Otome Zakura cherry blossoms that line the triple turret (yagura) bloom beautifully. Legend states that the Otome Zakura were planted by a feudal retainer in memory of his daughter, who was made a human sacrifice when a disaster occurred.
