Goshiki-numa Ponds
Goshiki-numa Ponds, or the Five Colored Marshes, were created by a steam explosion from Mount Bandai. There are not really five marshes, instead the name comes from the fact that you can see a variety of colors here. Goshiki-numa Ponds is a lake group composed of 20 to 30 different types of marshes, including Bishamonnuma, Rurinuma and Aonuma. The Goshiki-numa Ponds trail runs through this beautiful scenery, and includes a popular course that allows you to enjoy an approx. 90-minute stroll. People think that you cannot walk here when it is covered in snow, but you can use snow shoes for a winter stroll, and enjoy this area all year round.
